Sarah Watts

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I’m Sarah.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario (MACP)

I believe we all carry our own inner strength, wisdom, and resilience, even though at times they might seem difficult to access without help. Often our authentic self gets obscured by life experiences. I see my therapist role as facilitator and support on your journey through healing and/or self development. To this role I bring, as well as formal education and training, half a century of living and learning.

I support individual adults, embracing all types of diversity, and have a strong interest in Indigenous culture and issues. Trauma, anxiety, anger issues, grief and loss, interpersonal and narcissistic abuse and also posttraumatic and personal growth are areas I am particularly interested in. I will hold calm and compassionate space for us to address anything you have experienced, including abuse and suicidal thoughts. I believe the whole of your life (including mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual if desired-however that is expressed) is important when addressing issues.

We might do this with talk, mindfulness, guided imagery, experiential modalities (eg: psychodrama), expressive movement, somatic exploration, meeting your Inner Child and Inner Critic and/or applying cognitive behavioural strategies. It’s a team effort, combining what we both bring into the room. I have been educated in Spiritual Psychotherapy (Transformational Arts College-Toronto) and also have training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level 1 trauma training) and the Focusing technique (of Eugene Gendlin) and years of experience in classes of the expressive movement of Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms. I’ve seen and personally experienced the power of somatic/body-centred therapy approaches and experiential and expressive work as well as talk therapy alone, which is fundamental but can also be limited.

If this sounds interesting to you, please contact me to arrange a free 20 minute consult phone call to see if what I offer might be the right fit for you at this point in your journey. As mental health is a basic need, not a privilege, I can provide a sliding scale if needed.
